UNDP Global Accelerator LabThe Accelerator Labs' approach to conserving marine and coastal ecosystems is based on collective intelligence and community mobilization. The general thrust is to find business models that align the livelihoods of coastal communities with the preservation of nature. This is perhaps most evident in efforts to support regenerative tourism (Cape Verde, Lesotho, Samoa); in the direct involvement of communities in the protection of marine wildlife (Bangladesh) and the regeneration of coastal forests via crowdfunding (Uruguay); in the use of citizen science to generate, in the same move, environmental data and foster community stewardship of aquatic ecosystems (Argentina).
