UNDP Global Accelerator Lab

In crisis-affected settings where institutional infrastructure is weakened or absent, digital transformation has emerged as a critical enabler for expanding access to financial services, education, and basic public utilities. The UNDP Accelerator Labs have explored and tested low-cost, tech-driven solutions—from mobile financial tools to remote learning platforms and civic tech applications—that address critical gaps left by disrupted governance. These R&D efforts rely heavily on open-source platforms, community co-design, and iterative prototyping to ensure solutions are context-sensitive and inclusive. Technology, when rooted in local realities, has proven to be a powerful equalizer, helping vulnerable populations overcome systemic barriers and engage more fully in social and economic life.
