Description of the solution
The Japanese governments efforts to reduce electrical demand included a “Super Cool Biz” campaign to encourage ending dress codes calling for jackets and ties and wearing light, cool clothing instead. The Government also set manufacturing standards. Japan with their Top runner Program, tax credits to stimulate innovative technology and comprehensive labeling programs like the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system developed by US. Green Building Council addressed elements of air conditioning beyond the energy efficiency covered by the federal Energy Star ratings.
