Innovation Solution Description
Access to credit and agro-based solutions
Qualitative Results of the Innovation Solution
1. Empower women farmers in Mali. By training women in agricultural techniques, marketing, and financial management.
2. Support women farmers to form cooperatives, which have increased bargaining power and enabled women to access credit and markets.
3. Helped to improve access to water for irrigation. Which has enabled farmers to irrigate their fields and increase their crop yields.
Quantitative Result of the Innovation
1. Increase in yields: AFARD introduced a new variety of cowpea that was more resistant to pests and disease. This led to a 40% increase in yields, and farmers were able to sell their produce at a higher price.
