Oi Kambas is a smartphone app created to be a safe and accessible space, that aims to educate adolescents and young people 10-25 years old, about sexual and reproductive health and aims to support the reduction the adolescent fertility rate (163 births per 1,000 girls aged 15-19) in Angola, one of the largest in the region.
Oi Kambas aims to improve the lives of adolescents and young people in Angola through their empowerment providing key information and access to services allowing them to make better and more informed decisions about their bodies and their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Launched in Angola in June 2022, it is now available in Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Content follows CSE guidance classification and focuses primarily on:
- Body rights
- Health and well-being.
- Sexuality
Other content areas are Gender equality and GBV, body integrity, consent, privacy, and violence. The App has Five features:
- Information on sexuality, sexual and reproductive health - health and well-being;
- Relationships and the body - My knowledge;
- Referenced health services and adolescent and youth friendly centers - My services;
- Space for menstrual health management, medical appointments and medications - My health;
- Space to share stories, testimonies - My voice;
- Direct access to talk to SMS JOVEM counselors - My voice.
Its download is free for android, and the app can be used without internet access.
