Using the waste of prickly pear plantations to transform public transport from fossil to bio-fuel vehicles.
Biogas from prickly pear has the same performance in vehicles as gasoline, but is 40% cheaper, besides the environmental benefits of not using non-renewable energy sources. According to the promoters, prickly pear biogas has proven more effective than sugar or corn biogas.
